Jane Francisco, former editor-in-chief of now-defunct
Wish magazine, has been appointed editor-in-chief of
Style at Home. Francisco says she immediately contacted publisher Deborah Trepanier at Transcontinental Media, when she heard that Style at Home founding editor
Gail Johnston Habs was retiring at the end of May. “I have a passion for home and design and I think it’s an amazing brand,” she says. “I’m really excited to work on it.”
Before making any changes, Francisco wants to spend some time at the magazine and the people who work on it. “With 1.6 million readers, I think it’s important for me to get a really good handle on what the magazine is doing the best right now and how we can go on from there,” she says.
Francisco, who has worked in the industry since 1992, was formerly the editor-in-chief of independent magazine
Venue and the Rogers-owned
Glow, respectively. During her last two years at
Wish, she also served as executive editor of St. Joseph’s Media’s Lifestyles group, which included
Wish,
Gardening Life and
Canadian Family. She will start at
Style at Home in early July.
