Best of Mag News Around the Web, Aug. 29-Sept. 7
Welcome to our weekly round-up of the best stories about magazines and publishing found elsewhere on the Internet.

This week brings a good mix of articles on advertising, circulation and online publishing.

Venerable Ad Age publishes the results of a study by MRI Starch Communications about what makes magazine advertising drive purchasing decisions. Audience Development, Folio’s sister magazine, has a piece on a new U.S. subscription service called MAGPass that allows readers to subscribe to hundreds of different magazines and pay a monthly fee; the latest attempt to achieve the holy grail of continuous service. (In Canada, the Rogers Magazine Service is similar, though the subscription fee is charged annually on your credit card; Rogers titles and those from other publishers are available.) And Folio has a good Q&A with the senior VP of marketing at The Economist, who discusses how his magazine has increased its advertising and promotion activities through the recession.
