Editions Infopresse Inc. is shuttering French design magazine
Grafika and including its content in
Infopresse beginning with the February issue. “We have been thinking about doing this for awhile because it has been becoming more and more obvious that branding and design are not separate from communications,” says
Infopresse editor Marie-Claude Ducas. “If you look at the latest
Grafika issue, it was all information that could have been in
Infopresse.”

Infopresse’s paid circulation of 7,000 will be expanded to include
Grafika’s 6,000 says Ducas. The magazine, which is issued ten times a year will be expanded to reflect the increased content. “The launch will be a respectable issue,” she says. “Bigger than the issues we have been doing.”
Ducas says there has been good advertiser interest in the expanded
Infopresse but says it is looking beyond traditional models to make money with the new book. “We don’t make our main business with magazine advertising,” she says. “But that is nothing new. We make money through our conferences, sponsorship of what we do, advertising on the web and advertising in the magazine. With the economic climate today, you need to have multiple sources of revenue.”
