Canada Post rejects union's latest offer, strike looms Friday
Canada Post has rejected the postal union's latest offer, but the union has stated it is willing to negotiate until the strike deadline of 11:59 p.m. EDT this Thursday.

The corporation issued a release May 30 that the offer from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) is "out of touch with challenges facing Canada Post".

The Canada Post release was in response to an earlier release from CUPW stating it is "confident this offer can be accepted by (Canada Post) as the basis of a settlement" and that "the union is willing to bargain right up to the strike deadline to get a contract."

The union has given its mandatory 72-hour strike notice, and if a settlement is not reached by 11:59 p.m. on June 2 the mail carriers will be in a legal position to strike.
